Daniel Finch is a composer who creates emotive, identifiable sound worlds through a blend of live musicians and bespoke electronic instruments, crafting a unique musical voice. Daniel’s work is featured in Video Games, Short Films, streaming platforms and the zenith soundscapes Ambient Music YouTube channel, where he releases ambient experiences inspired by the emotions and stories he loves. He is passionate about admiringly creative storytelling and attracted to the experimental and immersive nature of Doctor Who, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Cyberpunk 2077. Discovering these unique musical designs led to a deep love for telling stories, with music influenced by Murray Gold, Jeremy Soule, Marcin Przybyłowicz and P.T. Adamczyk.
Through performing, recording, and creating synthesised musical instruments, Daniel formed a distinct compositional style. As a flautist from a young age, he performs and uses his flute as a natural storytelling device, blending it with experimental sound design. His music emphasises the narrative and emotional depth, through combining live instrumentation with bespoke synthesised elements. Daniel chooses to perform many instruments himself, similar to the style of Ludwig Göransson, often using reverberating textures to create an atmospheric foundation that enhances the emotional impact. Daniel’s approach challenges conventional descriptive writing, focusing instead on crafting immersive sound worlds that evoke a broad emotional response.
With a background as a classically trained Flautist and studying Music Theory, Production and Piano, Daniel earned a First Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in Music Composition & Technology. His journey began in school orchestras and flute performances, eventually leading to writing scores for short films, video games and ambiences. His first score was Orent Films’ Short Film The Envelope, and after working with them for a time, scored further short films and then video games.
Daniel Finch writes music to evoke emotional responses in audiences, believing that emotions and storytelling are fundamental to the human experience. The power of games, film, TV, and theatre to shape these emotions on a broad scale is unmatched. He uses music to tell these stories, enhancing everything from fear and intensity to love and joy. The beauty of influencing emotions is why Daniel is passionate about composing. Storytelling and emotion are at the heart of his musical philosophy, driving him to create with authenticity and true passion.
